Research Showcase Scheduled for March 29

The GSLIS Research Showcase will be held on the afternoon of Friday, March 29. University of Illinois Vice Chancellor for Research Peter Schiffer will present opening remarks for the annual event, which highlights the scholarly work of GSLIS faculty and doctoral students in a series of short presentations and posters.

“The research being conducted at GSLIS is truly astounding,” said J. Stephen Downie, GSLIS professor and associate dean for research. “The range of topics is astonishing. The quality of the work is world class. The groundbreaking nature of the research being done at GSLIS directly contributes to its first-place ranking among LIS programs in the United States.”

Presentation topics will include big data, intellectual freedom, preserving virtual worlds, data curation, digital scholarship, rethinking comics readers, building digital communities, representations of race in children’s literature, and leadership in academic libraries. The sessions will be presented as follows:

12:00 - 1:30pm: First poster session; lunch will be served
1:30 - 3:30pm: Research presentations with opening remarks by Peter Schiffer
