Bulletin announces 2014 Blue Ribbon winners

The staff at The Bulletin of the Center for Children's Books (BCCB) has announced the 2014 Blue Ribbons, their choices for the best of children’s and young adult literature for the year. Blue Ribbons are chosen annually by BCCB reviewers and represent what they believe to be outstanding examples of fiction, nonfiction, and picture books for youth.

Editor Deborah Stevenson said, “It's always fascinating to see what stands out to us at the end of the year. This year we were delighted with multiple brilliant poetry titles, from compilations to memoirs to biography; we have the expected hilarity in picture books, but also some real heart-tuggers as well; fiction ranges from classic genres done superbly to books unlike anything we’ve seen before.”

Archived lists of Blue Ribbon winners dating back to 1990 also are available for review.

The Bulletin of the Center for Children's Books, founded in 1945, is one of the nation's leading children's book review journals for school and public librarians.
