iSchool participates in Digital Humanities at Oxford Summer School

Several members of the iSchool community will give presentations at the 2016 Digital Humanities at Oxford Summer School (DHOxSS) on July 4-8 at the University of Oxford. Attendees will follow one of eight workshop tracks throughout the week, and attend several additional lectures and a poster session. Presenters from the School include: J. Stephen Downie, professor and associate dean for research; Bertram Ludäscher, professor and director of the Center for Informatics Research in Science and Scholarship (CIRSS); Allen Renear, professor and dean; Megan Senseney, senior project coordinator for CIRSS; and Andrea K. Thomer, doctoral candidate and CIRSS research assistant.

Downie, Renear, and Thomer will speak in the workshop, “An Introduction to Digital Humanities.” Downie also will present sessions in the workshops, “Digital Musicology,” and “Social Humanities: Citizens at Scale in the Digital World.” Senseney and Thomer are coconveners of the workshop, “Humanities Data: A Hands-On Approach,” in which Ludäscher, Renear, and Thomer will speak.

Held annually, DHOxSS is open to students, academics, and information industry professionals with interests in the broad field of digital humanities. The event is sponsored by several University of Oxford units: Oxford e-Research Centre, IT Services, Oxford Research Centre in the Humanities, Bodleian Libraries, and Oxford Internet Institute.
