MSIM Seminar: Alumni Perspectives with Riddle and Moore

Join fellow MS alumni Derek Riddle and Jerrod Moore as they talk about their experiences working in the information sector.

Derek Riddle, Manager, Research & Analysis, John Deere
Derek Riddle (MS '10) received his B.A. from the College of William & Mary and began a 15-year career in nonprofit management and fundraising. This included five years in prospect research, where he was a director in his local APRA chapter and taught prospect research at Temple University. In 2009, he went back to school at the University of Illinois to work on his MLIS, and while there he worked at the newly-opened John Deere engineering facility in the Research Park. After graduating, he transitioned to several different roles in the company, earned an MBA, and built a group of researchers consisting of mostly iSchool students and recent grads. The team researches difficult engineering questions, finds new technology development partners, and supports the company's open innovation efforts with a novel technology scouting method. He was recently promoted to manager, research & analysis, and will lead an effort to expand research to the supply management function at Deere.

Jerrod Moore, General Electric
Jerrod Moore (MS '15) holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration from Lincoln University (MO) and a Certificate of Business Management from the Kelly School of Business (IU). Jerrod worked as a legislative assistant and campaign manager while attending Lincoln University. During his tenure at the University of Illinois, Jerrod worked as a site manager for a nonprofit and interned at State Farm Insurance. Upon graduation, Jerrod accepted a position in an IT leadership program called the Digital Technology Leadership Program at General Electric where he is currently employed.
