iSchool in Color: Microaggressions Seminar

ischool-in-color.png?itok=kJWG-gFP iSchool in Color invites the iSchool community to join Dr. Ruby Mendenhall for a presentation on recognizing and addressing racial microaggressions. Microaggressions are the everyday verbal, nonverbal, and environmental slights, snubs, or insults—whether intentional or unintentional—that communicate hostile, derogatory, or negative messages to target persons based solely upon their marginalized group membership.

Dr. Mendenhall is an associate professor of sociology, African-American studies, urban and regional planning, and social work at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

This event will be streamed and recorded.
