Writing Workshops Module 1: Intro to iSchool Writing and Resources

Kick off the Writing Workshops series on February 7 by learning more about writing and writing resources at the iSchool and the University of Illinois!

Graduate school tests what you thought you knew about writing. If you've been in the workforce for a while or don't come from a writing-heavy background, it can be intimidating to receive an assignment for a research paper or be asked to do a lot of writing over the course of a semester. Where do you begin? Where can you get help? What on earth do they mean by "academic integrity"?

Get ready for writing by attending the first of three writing workshops on graduate level writing. We will focus on the resources and basics you need to know or refresh; we will also have resources for international students!

Modules 2 and 3 will go deeper into writing. Module 2 (February 21) will cover actually getting started with a writing assignment, and Module 3 (March 7) will cover specific kinds of writing genres you might encounter in your classes (memos, executive summaries, reports and reviews, etc.) as well as tone and formality appropriate in various work scenarios. Attend all three modules to fortify your writing and make yourself stand out on the job market!

Students from all degree programs are welcome to attend! If you have questions about Module 1 or the Writing Workshops Series in general, please contact Jessica Williams.
