IS 568 Theological Librarianship

Provides an overview of the contexts, materials, services, and issues characterizing theological librarianship. Students interact with a number of librarians currently working in the field.

Learning objectives

  • Contexts: Understand the variety of contexts and roles that theological librarians have in the teaching and learning of theology

  • Materials: Become acquainted with the types of resources peculiar to theological libraries

    and with selected particular tools, especially the SBL Handbook of Style and the ATLA Religion Database with ATLAS

  • Services: Understand the research and writing processes used by theological readers and apply that knowledge to library services
