We examine personal memory, family memory, memory institutions, and cultural memory, drawing on theories and perspectives from neurocognitive psychology, cognitive sociology, library and information science, archival theory, history, and other disciplines. We will consider a wide range of empirical examples such as memoirs, photography, memorials, and genealogy. This course will be applicable to a variety of fields of study and will be of particular interest to students studying various intersections among culture, technology, media, social practices, and information.
