The staff at The Bulletin of the Center for Children's Books (BCCB) has announced the 2013 Blue Ribbons, their choices for the best of children's and young adult literature for the year. Blue Ribbons are chosen annually by BCCB reviewers and represent what they believe to be outstanding examples of fiction, nonfiction, and picture books for youth.
Over thirty titles received Blue Ribbons for 2013, and the full list is available on the BCCB website. Editor Deborah Stevenson said, "Authors and publishers presented us with one of the strongest fiction categories in years; tough work for us, but in a gratifying way, and it’s left us with one of our longer fiction lists. On the nonfiction front, we saw a particularly strong focus on American history, while picture books were a wonderfully motley crew, ranging from the moving to the mooing."
Archived lists of Blue Ribbon winners dating back to 1990 also are available for review.
The Bulletin of the Center for Children's Books, founded in 1945, is one of the nation's leading children's book review journals for school and public librarians. Learn more about the Bulletin review process in this new video:
