Join student affairs staff for a discussion surrounding coursework and career exploration as you continue to plan your program and prepare for the spring semester! Interact with a panel of youth services and school librarians as they answer your questions and provide their insights into valuable coursework, pre-professional experiences, and career opportunities in the field. 

Youth Services Panelists

Gretchen Zaitzeff received her MLIS from the iSchool in 2015. At University High School, an ISU Lab School, Gretchen Zaitzeff is the full-time, licensed librarian, keeper of the collection, the manager of the space and the teacher of several literacies.

Mary Dubbs (GSLIS '13) is the children's librarian at the Elmhurst Branch of the Oakland Public Library in California, where she does the funnest stuff and has the best patrons and drives people nuts talking about what a great job she has.

Kelsey Bates currently resides in Fort Myers, FL where she serves as a young adult/youth services librarian within the Lakes Regional Library.  Also an alumni, Kelsey completed her MLIS in 2012. 

Katherine Hlousek is currently working as a K-8 school librarian at Emiliano Zapata Academy in Chicago, Illinois.  Katherine teaches information literacy and literature appreciation lessons for kindergarten through eighth grade students in addition to running circulation, maintaining the library collection, writing grants, and taking a leadership role in many school committees. She received her MLIS from the iSchool in 2011.
