Google and the World Brain: Film Screening and Panel
On behalf of ALA@UIUC'S International Librarianship and Intellectual Freedom Committees, we invite you to a screening and panel discussion of the 2013 documentary, "Google and the World Brain."
This film documents Google's mass book digitization efforts in the early 2010s, as well as its legal, social, and academic ramifications. Anyone interested in preservation, academic librarianship, copyright, and social implications of information will find this film enlightening and informative.
A panel discussion will follow after the screening, featuring the following Illinois faculty:
Sara Benson, Copyright Librarian at the University Library
Maria Bonn, Associate Professor at the iSchool
Stephen Downie, Professor and Associate Dean for Research at the iSchool
Movie will begin at 5:30 p.m., panel discussion to follow. Snacks and drinks will be provided!
