CIRSS Seminar: Jessie Chin

Jessie Chin

Assistant Professor Jessie Chin will give the talk, "Topics in Adaptation to Information Proliferation: Information Foraging and Misinformation."

Abstract: The talk will focus on two topics in information proliferation, information foraging and misinformation. In the first part of the talk, I'll be introducing empirical studies about how people across the lifespan adapt to information environments through foraging. In the second part of talk, I'll be introducing an ongoing study to examine the ecosystems of health misinformation on social media.

Chin's research focuses on bridging theories in cognitive science, human-computer interaction, and human factors to understand and design sociotechnical solutions to support complex cognitive activities (such as learning and decision-making) and health promotion.
