Professional Pathways Spring Series: Kate Lambaria

Professional Pathways Spring Series: Kate Lambaria

This professional development event is going to be set up as a semi-formal conversation with students who are interested in exploring different pathways through library and information science!

Kate Lambaria is the Music & Performing Arts Librarian and Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Her duties include coordinating user education and outreach efforts for the Music & Performing Arts Library (MPAL); serving as collection manager for dance and theatre and music books; and supervising MPAL's graduate assistants. Her research focuses on music reference services and the role libraries play in the preservation and dissemination of performance materials. Her research has been published in the Journal of Academic Librarianship, Journal of Librarianship and Scholarly Communication, Public Services Quarterly, and more. She is an active member of the Music Library Association where she serves on the Board of Directors. Previously, Kate was the Fine Arts Librarian at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She received her MS in Library & Information Sciences and BA in Music from Illinois.

Professional Pathways invites a series of working professionals across library and information science to share their journey into their careers and experiences in the field! This is a career development series where students can understand the current professional landscape, and is not intended to be a career fair or employment seeking opportunity. The speakers cover a wide range of roles within library and information science, as well as information management, and as such this event is open to ALL iSchool students.
