Center for Children’s Books Director Deborah Stevenson will moderate a panel discussion at School Library Journal’s 2016 Day of Dialog on May 11 in Chicago. The panel, “Some Nonfiction! Dynamic informational books for young readers,” will feature discussion of several unique, informative publications on topics ranging from giant squid to William Shakespeare.
In addition to directing the Center for Children’s Books, Stevenson is editor of The Bulletin of the Center for Children’s Books, one of the nation's leading children's book review journals for school and public librarians. Her research interests include children's literature and contemporary culture, history of children's literature, and genre theory. She has published articles in The Horn Book Magazine, The Lion and the Unicorn, and Children’s Literature Association Quarterly. Currently, Stevenson is a principal investigator of “App Authors: Closing the App Gap II,” a project focused on development of app-based curricula and tools for use in school and public libraries.
