Todd Kato, Senior Admissions and Records Manager

Todd Kato joined the iSchool on January 29 as a senior admissions and records manager. In this position, he will develop and implement innovative programs and processes for admission and records management across all the School's degree programs.

Kato has 15 years of experience in admissions, most recently serving as assistant director in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions on the Urbana campus. He holds a master's degree in technical communication from Illinois Institute of Technology and a bachelor's degree in communications from William Penn University.

In his free time, Kato enjoys spending time with family and traveling.

"The iSchool's enrollment has grown tremendously in the past few years. I am excited to help streamline our records processes in a way that will support both present and future growth," he said.

CCB to hold annual book sale

The Center for Children's Books (CCB) at the iSchool is hosting its annual book sale on February 18-19, 2024. Hundreds of brand-new children's books will be available for youth ages birth through high school. The titles represent the full spectrum of children’s publishing in fiction and nonfiction.

Owens joins the Research Services team

Julie Owens joined the iSchool on January 8 as a senior grants and contracts coordinator. In her position, she will perform post-award administrative functions related to sponsored research projects.

Nominations invited for 2023 Downs Intellectual Freedom Award

The School of Information Sciences at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign seeks nominations for the 2023 Robert B. Downs Intellectual Freedom Award. The deadline for nominations is March 15, 2024. The award is cosponsored by Sage.

Valentine joins iSchool

Emily Valentine joined the iSchool on January 6 as an operations associate. In her new role, she will support the activities of business, finance, and human resources.
