Alumni named Emerging Leaders

Four GSLIS alumni have been selected to participate in the American Library Association’s 2013 Emerging Leaders program.

Tarida Anantachai (MS ’11), Amanda Binder (MS ’08), Margaret Heller (MS ’08), and Yasmeen Shorish (MS ’11) joined the 2013 class of Emerging Leaders, which includes a total of fifty-five individuals from across the country. Now in its seventh year, this leadership development initiative seeks to enable newer library professionals to participate in problem-solving work groups, network with peers, observe ALA structure, and have the opportunity to serve the profession in a leadership capacity.

The Emerging Leaders program will launch with events at the 2013 ALA Midwinter Meeting in Seattle, which will be followed by six months of online learning and networking opportunities. At the end of the program, participants of each group will display the results of their project planning work in a poster presentation session at the 2013 ALA Annual Conference in Chicago.

Visit the ALA website for the complete list of 2013 participants and sponsoring organizations.
