Giving

Thank you photo

With your help, our graduates become leaders in the field who offer their talents to make a difference in the world. Your financial support assists with tuition, books, career development, professional travel, and awards—all of which makes a real difference in the student experience and in the ongoing excellence of our School.

The Annual Fund is used to support activities and programs benefiting students and faculty, especially initiatives that are new and innovative. Gifts to this unrestricted fund come from alumni, students, faculty, staff, and friends who wish to send a message—as well as money—in support of the education available at the School. If your company offers a matching gift program, your support can have even a bigger impact, often doubling or tripling your initial donation!

If you prefer to give by mail, please send a check or money order, made payable to the University of Illinois Foundation. On the memo line of your check, designate the specific fund you would like to receive your gift. Please note the iSchool Annual Fund is an option. If you choose to mail your gift, the date of the gift is the postmark date. Send your donation to: University of Illinois Foundation, P.O. Box 734500, Chicago, IL 60673-4500

The Berger/Cloonan Scholarship has allowed me to worry less about finances and focus more on being present at the university. I have been able to devote more time to my studies and extracurriculars, and I can allocate more of my own money towards my living expenses. Being awarded a scholarship like this inspires me to work hard so that one day I can be in a position to help future students the way that I am being helped right now.

Katharine L. Sharp Legacy Society

The Katharine L. Sharp Legacy Society, named for the School's founder, recognizes alumni and friends who have included a gift for the School in their estate plans. The generosity of these individuals has made possible the continued excellence of our School. Members of the Legacy Society are also included in the Dean's Council. An estate gift can take many forms, such as a bequest made in a will or living trust, and can offer substantial financial and tax savings benefits, often complementing overall estate plans.

Donating to the iSchool scholarship programs is a way of supporting dreams and promoting careers in information science. The generous support from donors such as Nancy and Dan Balz helps prepare information professionals who will advance the field and help make our digital environment safe.
