iSchool Convocation Ceremony

Katie Blakeman, 2019 iSchool Convocation speaker

The iSchool is pleased to announce that Katie Blakeman (MS '11), Clerk of the Circuit Court for Champaign County, will be this year's Convocation speaker. 

Elected in 2012, Blakeman has focused her efforts on improving technology and accessibility in the courts, both locally and statewide. Her work has led to two Supreme Court appointments, and she serves on the Technology and Legislative committees for the Illinois Association of Court Clerks. She holds an MS/LIS from Illinois and an undergraduate degree in business administration from Augustana College. Passionate about public service, Blakeman is very active in her community. She serves on the Board of Trustees for the Champaign Public Library and chairs their Visioning committee. She is a member of the Executive Club of Champaign County and is a sustaining member of the Junior League of Champaign-Urbana. She is a graduate of the United Way of Champaign County's Emerging Community Leaders program, was a 2016 Edgar Fellow, and was named one of Central Illinois Business Magazine's Forty Under 40 in 2013, and one of Junior League of Champaign-Urbana's 20 Women of Influence in 2015.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Librarian of Congress Carla Hayden will be unable to give the Convocation address.
