Manas Godha (BSIS '24) learned how to connect "different contexts, people, and processes with data and technology" at the iSchool. He is putting those skills into practice in his work as the growth and strategy lead at Advaiya.
Where do you work and what is your role?
I'm currently working at Advaiya, a technology consulting firm headquartered in Bellevue, Washington. I've had some incredible opportunities there, and I’m now the growth and strategy lead. I get to handle key growth initiatives and work with enterprise clients globally.
What do you like best about your job?
What I love most about my job is how it's given me a real-world perspective on the technology platforms I studied in the iSchool, allowing me to see the bigger picture of how businesses operate. Interacting with industry leaders and understanding what truly drives their success has been the most rewarding part.
What do you see as the most important impact of your work?
I believe the most significant impact I’ve made at Advaiya is in advancing our Peripheral Automation framework. I've been responsible for its overall positioning and integrating it into our organizational processes, which has impacted our sales, consulting, and project management office efforts.
How did the iSchool at Illinois help you get to where you are today?
My time at the iSchool was instrumental in that it helped me understand both people and business, as well as data and technology. This combination has really set me apart and allowed me to be part of core strategic initiatives.
What advice would you like to share with iSchool students?
I've learned that without understanding people and the broader context of things, it's challenging to grow in any role. While the iSchool did offer a lot of possibilities to get more programming experience, what truly shaped my growth was learning to connect different contexts, people, and processes with data and technology. I'd strongly recommend that all iSchool students take a step back and consider these aspects. Especially with AI driving so much forward, it’s crucial to link people, information, and technology.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
Outside of work, which is both fun and busy, I think it's important to pursue other interests. I've been enjoying a lot of non-academic reading lately, and when I have more free time, I absolutely love to cook!
