Wendy Rein selected as the 2026 ALA Century Scholarship recipient

Wendy Rein

MSLIS student Wendy Rein has been selected to receive the 2026 American Library Association (ALA) Century Scholarship.

The $2,500 scholarship funds services or accommodations for a library school student with disabilities admitted to an ALA-accredited library program.

Rein's passion for libraries began in elementary school, where a weekly history club sparked their love of learning and discovery. Their experiences continued through a high school internship at the Clark County Law Library, undergraduate library positions, and research focused on improving access to library services.

After initially pursuing biochemistry, Rein discovered that library and information science better aligned with their passion for helping people access information and technology.

In 2025, Rein's research on improving library access in communities with high development needs received the Calvert Undergraduate Research Award from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

"I hope my academic and professional achievements are reflective of my ability to overcome challenges and adapt," Rein said.

At the iSchool, their long-term goal is to pursue doctoral study and contribute to library and information science through research, advocacy, and policy.

"The library has always been a place where I could find resources, guidance, and opportunity," Rein said. "I hope to help create those same opportunities for others."
