What are the requirements for admission?

Candidates interested in the MSLIS School Librarian Licensure program must first be admitted and enrolled as an MSLIS or CAS student before their application to the School Librarian Licensure program is reviewed. Prospective students who already hold an Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) for teaching should not apply to the School Librarian Licensure program. Licensed Illinois teachers must meet the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) requirements for adding the PreK-12 Library Information Specialist endorsement to their current PEL. The requirements for this endorsement are explained on the School Librarian endorsement page. 

When is my application due?

Interested students may apply into the School Librarian Licensure program after admission to the MS or CAS program.
