Just Infrastructures: "Critical Algorithm Studies: A View from Inside Computer Science"

Just Infrastructures - April 7 talk

Suresh Venkatasubramanian, professor in the School of Computing at the University of Utah will present "Critical Algorithm Studies: A View From Inside Computer Science," as part of the Just Infrastructures Speaker Series. 

Venkatasubramanian is working on the theoretical and applied aspects of data science, and on the social ramifications of automated decision making. He is a founding member of the ACM FAccT (Fairness, Accountability and Transparency) conference and is also a member of the board at the ACLU of Utah. He has also been very active in advocating and thinking through the teaching of ethics in CS pedagogy. 

Just Infrastructures was launched by researchers in the iSchool, Department of Computer Science, and College of Media to interrogate the complex interactions between people, algorithms, and AI-driven systems.
