CIRSS Seminar: Joseph Yun

Joseph T. Yun, research assistant professor of accountancy and director of data science research services at the Gies College of Business, will present "The Social Media Macroscope."

The Social Media Macroscope is an open-source project created here at the U of I in which we give access to researchers, students, and general users without coding and computational backgrounds the ability to analyze social media data within a fully open-source environment. Nothing within the environment is black-box and we have gained users from over one hundred research institutions around the world.

Yun's research is primarily focused on novel data science algorithms, user-centric analytics systems, and societal considerations of AI-based advertising and marketing (e.g. privacy, ethics). He is also the principal investigator of the Social Media Macroscope.
