Renee Hendricks presentation
Renee Hendricks will give a presentation in response to the prompt, "Given the current challenges and trends in information sciences, tell us how you are prepared to help our school’s program grow and thrive?"
Hendricks is currently an adjunct lecturer at the iSchool, where she teaches the IS 517 Methods of Data Science course online. Previously, she worked for the Federal Government in engineering, research and development, analyst and fellowship roles, most recently at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) in Indianapolis, as well as the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), in Washington, DC. Prior to her move to DC, she was a faculty member at Purdue University in the Aviation Department, teaching in the aeronautical area of study and conducting research in biometrics and aviation security screening. Hendricks has a PhD in Industrial and Systems Engineering from Binghamton University. Her dissertation was focused on the development of a clustering algorithm that can handle a variety of data types including categorical, numerical, and text data. This provided a means to define Parkinson’s Disease patient subtypes unique to previous studies. Her teaching and research interests are in public health informatics, data and process mining and predictive analytics.
