Glatthaar and Wolf recognized with service award

GSLIS alumni Peggy Glatthaar (MS ’07) and Sandy Wolf (MS ’93) are recipients of the first Outstanding Civil Service Staff Award from the University of Illinois Library. The award recognizes civil service staff members for their exceptional accomplishments and distinctive service to the library.

Glatthaar is a library operations associate, supervising the main stacks circulation desk and telephone center. “My first thought when I won the award was how surprised and honored I felt,” Glatthaar said. “I work in an awesome library, and the support that our University Librarian has for the staff is wonderful. We have the best staff, and we all have fun working together, too.”

Wolf is the library operations associate for library and information science library services. In her position, she provides instructional and reference services to the GSLIS community and promotes communication between the Library and GSLIS.

“It is a true honor to have received this award, especially in its inaugural year,” Wolf said. “What is most meaningful to me is that my own peers found me deserving of this recognition.”

The winners of the award, which also included Madeline Gibson, senior library specialist, received $1,000 and a commemorative certificate. The Library Awards and Recognitions Committee will prepare nominations for the three recipients to be considered for the Chancellor’s Distinguished Service Award, a campuswide honor that recognizes remarkable service to the University.
