Willis elected to Illinois General Assembly

GSLIS alumna Kathleen Willis (MS ’05) has been elected to the Illinois General Assembly to represent the 77th legislative district of the state. Willis, who will be inaugurated to the legislature on January 9, currently serves as coordinator of access services for Elmhurst College’s library. In addition to her role at the library, Willis teaches courses in children’s and youth literature at Elmhurst College and is serving her third term on a local school board.

As a legislator, Willis plans to focus on education-related issues as well as state budgetary concerns. In a press release from Elmhurst College, Willis said, "I’m really looking forward to impacting the community at a higher level. This is my chance to take my grassroots experience and make even more of a difference."
