Three GSLIS alumni have been chosen to participate in the highly competitive American Library Association Leadership Institute: Jenna Mayotte (MS ’07), business resource center coordinator at the Simsbury (CT) Public Library; Michele Paladines (MS ’11), collections coordinator at Oak Park (IL) Public Library; and Janet Vogel (MS ’08), youth services coordinator for Frederick County (MD) Public Libraries.
The forty total mid-career librarians selected for the 2015 Institute will take part in an immersive leadership development program in August, where they will develop and practice leadership skills in areas critical to the future of the libraries they lead, and allow them to form a vibrant learning community and network. Participants are expected to return to their institutions with greater self-awareness and self-confidence, equipped with better skills for leading, coaching, collaborating, and engaging within their organizations and in their communities, and prepared to identify, develop, and implement solutions which will benefit all stakeholders.
