Associate Professor and Interim Associate Dean for Academic Affairs Emily Knox has been selected to participate in the 2020-2021 Building Pathways for Emerging Leaders Fellows program at the University of Illinois. Twelve professors were selected for the year-long leadership development program, which is designed for faculty members at the associate professor and full professor rank who demonstrate leadership potential in their current role.

"It is an honor to be chosen for this leadership program," said Knox. "Effective leadership can be difficult, and I appreciate that the University provides this training."

Knox joined the iSchool faculty in 2012. Her research interests include information access, intellectual freedom and censorship, the intersection of print culture and reading practices, and information ethics and policy. She serves as president of Beta Phi Mu, the international library and information studies honor society. In 2019, she was named an iSchool Centennial Scholar in recognition of her accomplishments and professional promise. Knox received her PhD from the doctoral program at the Rutgers University School of Communication and Information.
