iSchool researchers will present their work this week at the Engagement Scholarship Consortium's 2026 annual conference in Knoxville, Tennessee. The theme of this year's conference is "Changing Lives and Improving Society: Data-Driven Engagement and Innovation." ESC's goal is to work collaboratively to build strong university-community partnerships anchored in the rigor of scholarship and designed to help build community capacity.
iSchool researchers presenting at the conference include:
- Teaching Assistant Professor Janaynne Carvalho do Amaral was selected to be part of the 2026 Emerging Engagement Scholars Workshop (EESW).
- Yingying Han (PhD '25), now an assistant professor at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, will receive the consortium's distinguished dissertation award for her dissertation, Community Archives as Agency: Documenting Chinese American Experiences in the US. She will also lead an interactive workshop on Oct. 8, "Curating Cultural Heritage: Digital Preservation with Community Partners."
- Doctoral student Ebube Uba will present "Promoting Co-Design Practices in Community-Led Digital Inclusion" on Oct. 7.
- Adjunct Lecturer Stephanie Dietrich, (MSLIS '18), senior manager for education at the Cancer Center at Illinois, will present in the Oct. 7 poster session, "Building a Community- Engaged Cancer Education Ecosystem."
