Alumna to lead OhioLINK

GSLIS alumna Gwen Evans (MS ’02) was named executive director of the Ohio Library and Information network, OhioLINK. OhioLINK is a consortium of 88 college and university libraries in Ohio, providing approximately 600,000 students, faculty, and staff with access to millions of books, articles, and other information sources. Evans had served as interim director of OhioLINK before being appointed as executive director by University System of Ohio Chancellor Jim Petro. OhioLINK recently became part of the Ohio Technology Consortium (OH-TECH), for which Evans also previously served as director of special projects, working on ventures regarding technology services and infrastructure. Evans brings to the position a background in digital resources, reference, and access services as well as experience in a range of university libraries. In a news release from the University System of Ohio, Evans said:

“I’m honored to have earned the confidence of the Board of Regents and the OhioLINK advisory board, and am looking forward to leading an organization that is so integral to providing cutting-edge library services to Ohio’s higher education community. This year, OhioLINK will mark twenty years of providing shared resources and services to the academic institutions of Ohio. My challenge will be to continue the extraordinary vision of the founding members of OhioLINK by adapting to the rapidly changing library and higher education environment.”
