Senior Research Scientist and Lecturer Martin Wolske spoke this week at the 2016 Nonprofit Technology Conference, hosted by the Nonprofit Technology Network on March 23-25 in San Jose, California.

Wolske participated in a plenary panel titled, "Momentum for Change: Strategies for Achieving Digital Equity," in which he addressed the human considerations of effective implementation of technological innovations, as well as the need to think critically about our expectations of technology and the potential for our innovations to have unintentional negative consequences. The talk drew on work Wolske has done in his role as a staff member of the Center for Digital Inclusion (CDI). The slides of his presentation are available in IDEALS.

At GSLIS, Wolske teaches courses on community engagement, community informatics, networked systems, and technology. With GSLIS and CDI, he has been actively involved in multiple grant-funded projects in the realms of community informatics and digital inclusion, including Sowing Seeds, Mix IT Up! Youth Advocacy Librarianship, Digital Literacy for ALL Learners, and the Illini Gadget Garage. He is a recipient of the Campus Award for Excellence in Public Engagement and the Library Journal Teacher of the Year Award.
