Undergraduate Advising
Our advisors and staff work closely with current students to help them make the most of their iSchool experience. This collaboration includes identifying courses to achieve career goals, facilitating opportunities to gain practical skills, and suggesting student organizations as well as cultural offerings to promote engagement and ensure personal and academic success.
Advising is provided to current U of I students during normal business hours, and all majors are welcome. Appointments are conducted in person or online via Zoom based on a student's preference. Appointments may be scheduled online at least four hours in advance, based on availability, and are held for 30 minutes. Cancellations should be made at least 12 hours in advance.
Express Advising (drop-in advising) is available at certain times. New freshman and transfer students should take advantage of advising assistance offered through New Student Registration.
Express advising focuses on quick problem solving and registration planning. No appointment is necessary, and current students are seen on a first-come, first-served basis. Stop by during any of our Express Advising times!
Appointments are available in person, online, or both. Depending on the number of students waiting, the available time ranges from 5-10 minutes. If you need to arrange a longer meeting, please contact an advisor to schedule an appointment during regular advising hours.
