IS 400 Colloquium - Dr. Kathleen McDowell

Associate Professor Kate McDowell will present "Storytelling as Information Research."

Storytelling is a common but not well understood means of information circulation, with story as a fundamental information form. Because of the 130-plus year history of storytelling in library services to youth, our field has rich practices that can inform definitions of storytelling and story. This presentation will review recent storytelling research and ongoing projects, including storytelling in LIS traditions, in advancement, in misinformation research (with Research Scientist Ian Brooks), in library data storytelling (with Assistant Professor Matthew Turk), and more.
