GSLIS students, alumni named IFLA Fellows

The International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) 2016 National Committee has awarded fellowships to nearly two hundred LIS professionals and students from around the world, including two GSLIS students and several alumni. The fellows will receive funding to attend the IFLA World Library and Information Congress in Columbus, Ohio, on August 13-19.

Alumna Barbara Alvarez (MS '12) and master’s students Elisandro Cabada and Erik Ponder have been named IFLA-IMLS Fellows, and will receive funding through a Laura Bush 21st Century Librarian Program grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS).

The roster of IFLA Library Fellows from the United States and Canada includes alumni Tarida Anantachai (MS '11), Vincci Kwong (MS '05), Yan Liu (MS '14), and Kathryn Tallman (MS '11).

Chan to deliver keynote at SIGCIS 2024

Associate Professor Anita Say Chan will deliver the keynote at the 15th annual conference of the SHOT (Society for the History of Technology) Special Interest Group for Computing, Information, and Society (SIGCIS), which will be held on July 14 in Viña del Mar, Chile. SIGCIS is the leading international group for historians with an interest in the history of information technology and its applications. The theme for SIGCIS 2024 is "System Update: Patches, Tactics, Responses."
