Clemmons joins advising team

Stacy Clemmons, Academic Advisor and Coordinator of Graduate Affairs for MSIM and MS BIO

Stacy Clemmons joined the iSchool this month as academic advisor and coordinator of graduate affairs. In this position, she will provide academic advising and support for students in the MS in Information Management and MS in Bioinformatics programs.

Clemmons' background in higher education includes academic advising, recruitment, student leadership development, academic coaching, and mentoring. She most recently served as an undergraduate advisor in the College of Education. Clemmons holds a BA in family and consumer sciences from Eastern Illinois University and a Master of Education in higher education from Abilene Christian University.

During her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, and searching for new adventures. Her interests include outdoor activities such as hiking, kayaking, and biking as well as attending open mic poetry events, visiting museums, and grilling when the weather allows.

"I decided to join the iSchool because of its positive atmosphere, the excitement from its growing degree programs, and the diversity of the School's faculty, staff, and students," she said.

Library Trends examines genre classifications in latest issue

The iSchool at Illinois is pleased to announce the publication of Library Trends 74 (1), titled “Genres and Their Uses in Cultural Documentation: Exploring Generic Access to Creative Worlds.” Pushing back against the notion of genres as “inferior” classifications due to their ambiguity, this issue instead explores how genre classifications facilitate access to creative works in libraries and beyond.
