Carolyn Thomas joined the iSchool on September 16 as human resources manager. She will be working with the HR team to mentor and train, create efficiencies and streamline tasks, and provide an overall successful delivery of HR services to the iSchool community.

Prior to joining the School, Thomas served as the assistant director of human resources and graduate programs for the Department of Business Administration in the Gies College of Business. She has over two decades of experience on the Urbana campus, including positions in the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences; College of Liberal Arts and Sciences; and Grainger College of Engineering. She holds a bachelor's degree in Spanish and political science from the University of Illinois, an MBA from Eastern Illinois University, and Professional HR Certification (PHR) from the HR Certification Institute.

"My new position allows me to share my experience and skills with a growing HR team as we work to enhance the iSchool," said Thomas. "I look forward to the challenge of reviewing processes to increase efficiency as well as training and mentoring."

In her free time, Thomas likes to travel, eat fabulous food, play board games, and read. She also enjoys gardening and hopes to become a master gardener next year.
