Library Trends examines "International Perspectives on Knowledge Management Education" in issue

The School of Information Sciences at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is pleased to announce the publication of Library Trends 72 (2). This issue, "International Perspectives on Knowledge Management Education," surveys the global landscape of knowledge management education. Kendra Albright, Frank Cervone, and Albina Krymskaya served as guest editors. 

This thematic issue provides readers with a detailed look at knowledge management education in Africa, South America, South Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Australasia, Asia, and North America. With authors representing these regions and sharing insight on their institutional curricula and programs, Library Trends 72 (2) presents an international comparison for researchers studying the field. The table of contents includes:

Library Trends is an essential tool for professional librarians and educators alike. Each issue explores critical trends in professional librarianship and includes practical applications, thorough analyses, and literature reviews. The journal is published quarterly for the School of Information Sciences by the Johns Hopkins University Press. Back issues (1952 through two years prior to the current issue) are available online through IDEALS, the digital repository for scholarly works produced at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Library Trends issue explores compelling tensions in library and information science

The iSchool at Illinois is pleased to announce the publication of Library Trends 74 (4) "Compelling Tensions in Library and Information Science." Guest editor Katherine M. Wisser frames current tensions in the LIS field through Thomas Kuhn's "The Structure of Scientific Revolutions," which posits that paradigm shifts are driven by periods of revolution, rather than incremental, progressive change.

2025 Downs Intellectual Freedom Award given to Nicole A. Cooke

Nicole A. Cooke has been named the 2025 recipient of the Downs Intellectual Freedom Award for her advocacy, groundbreaking research, and dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion within the field of library and information science. Cooke is the Augusta Baker Endowed Chair and professor in the College of Information and Communications at the University of South Carolina.

Cloonan to deliver iSchool Convocation

Michèle Cloonan (MS '84, PhD '88), dean and professor emerita in the School of Library and Information Science at Simmons University, will deliver the 2026 iSchool Convocation address on Sunday, May 17, at 1:30 p.m. at the Activities and Recreation Center. For those who would like to watch the ceremony online, live video will be available as well as archived for future viewing.
