GSLIS awards first Leep student scholarships

DSC01982.jpg?itok=ok02i2WI Thanks to contributions from alumni and friends, GSLIS was able to award two Leep student scholarships in 2014. Lindsay Keating (MS '14) received an award for the Summer 2014 semester, and Lori Jansson (MS '14) received an award for Fall 2014.

The Leep Scholarship Fund was established by Leep alumna Brooke Johnson (MS '03) and GSLIS Professor and Associate Dean for Academic Programs Linda C. Smith. Johnson was inspired to create the fund as a way to help other distance students access the Leep online learning program, through which she gained an invaluable network of peers, faculty, and staff in addition to an education that helped launch her career as a library consultant.

lindsaykeating.jpg?itok=2CtcGzYH Thanks to the Leep Cohort Challenge, a friendly competition encouraging Leep alumni to contribute to the Scholarship Fund, the fund reached its endowment goal in 2014, which allows for two scholarships to be awarded annually. Jansson and Keating were selected to receive the first scholarships, which can be used to fund tuition or other expenses.

Additional contributions will allow this fund to support more students each year in the future. To make a contribution, visit our secure giving website and select the GSLIS Leep Scholarship Fund on the Scholarships tab, or contact the Office of Advancement.
