Research Associate Professor David Dubin and doctoral candidate Cheryl A. Thompson will participate in the sixth Research Data Alliance (RDA) Plenary Meeting in Paris, France, on September 23-25.
Dubin will cochair a meeting of the Research Data Provenance interest group, and represent that group in a joint meeting with the Metadata, Data in Context, and Metadata Standards Catalog groups.
Thompson will speak at the Libraries for Research Data (L4RD) Interest Group meeting, where she will update group members on her work on an L4RD project. She is working with two L4RD members to discover patterns in the provision of data services at the organizational level by employing a multi-method case study design, including a literature review, artifact collection, and qualitative interviews. She will present a poster of preliminary results at the sixth and hopes to present the full results at the seventh RDA Plenary.
Thompson and recent GSLIS graduate Nic Weber (PhD ’15) were named 2015-16 RDA Data Share Fellows. Funded by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, the RDA Data Share program seeks to promote adoption of best practices in data sharing by engaging early career scholars in RDA activities. Fellowships last twelve to eighteen months and require participants to work with one of RDA’s interest or working groups. Fellows receive stipends and funding to attend plenary meetings.
