Associate Professor Catherine Blake has been named a 2016-2017 Faculty Fellow at the Lister Hill National Center for Biomedical Communications, a research and development unit of the National Library of Medicine.

“I have been following the Lister Hill group for many years so I am very much looking forward to contributing to their informatics resources that are so widely used by the research community," she said.

Blake’s fellowship coincides with her sabbatical that will enable her to work closely with the Semantic Knowledge Representation and Medical Ontology Research projects that are located at the National Institutes of Health campus in Bethesda, Maryland.

In addition to her professorial role at the iSchool, Blake serves as associate director of the Center for Informatics Research in Science and Scholarship and holds affiliate appointments in the Departments of Computer Science and Medical Information Science at Illinois. Blake designed the iSchool’s graduate specialization in Socio-technical Data Analytics (SODA) that was funded by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services. Her current research projects include analyzing data reuse at the US Department of Veterans Affairs and a five-year project that models the next generation of risk assessment tools that is funded by the National Science Foundation.
