iSchool faculty to present at AISLE 2023

iSchool faculty will present their research at the Association of Illinois School Library Educators (AISLE) Annual Conference, which will be held from October 1-3 in Champaign. The theme of AISLE 2023 is "Strength in Partnerships."

On the opening night of the conference, the iSchool will sponsor Late Night at Lit!, a social event at The Literary, a book bar, from 7:30-9:00 p.m.

Affiliate Associate Professor Sara Benson will be the guest speaker for the welcome and general session on October 2 at 8:15 a.m., presenting "Fair Use for Library Educators." She will also present the session, "Copyright for K-12 Librarians," at 1:45 p.m.

Associate Professor Sarah Park Dahlen will co-present the session, "Get Ready to TEAACH!," on October 3 at 9:45 a.m. She will also serve as guest speaker for the closing general session at 3:00 p.m., presenting "Diversity Activism: History and Future of Children’s Literature."

iSchool instructors ranked as excellent

Fifty-four iSchool instructors were named in the University's List of Teachers Ranked as Excellent for Spring 2024. The rankings are released every semester, and results are based on the Instructor and Course Evaluation System (ICES) questionnaire forms maintained by Measurement and Evaluation in the Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning. 

New grant to create inclusive learning environment and advance workplace equity

The National Science Foundation (NSF) has awarded Assistant Professor JooYoung Seo a four-year, $459,000 grant to create inclusive learning environments and advance workplace equity for persons with disabilities in STEM fields. The project will build on Seo's work in developing open-source tools that can augment visual charts into touchable (braille), readable (text), and audible (sound) representations.
