GSLIS Senior Research Scientist Martin Wolske has been named president of the Board of Trustees of the Champaign Public Library. He has been a member of the board since November 2014 and is now replacing Trisha Crowley, whose term ended in June of this year. His term as president is set for one year with the possibility of reappointment.

This new appointment coincided with an announcement from Library Director Marsha Grove (MS '81) that she will retire in January 2016. One of Wolske's major responsibilities in the coming months will be to lead the board through the process of selecting Grove's replacement (view position description). He will also facilitate a series of discussions  with stakeholders in the coming months that will guide the board in future decisions.

“[These conversations] will serve as an essential channel for us to further understand the vision and goals residents have for the future of Champaign, how they are working to bring that vision about, hurdles they are facing, and how the library may enhance our engagement with the community to advance these goals. Marsha has done a wonderful job building a strong library foundation. These conversations will provide vital information as we choose the next director, whose job it will be to further lead the evolution of the library as a keystone institution within our world-class community,” said Wolske.
