Renear to deliver keynote talk at A-LIEP 2016

Allen Renear, professor and dean of the iSchool, will deliver a keynote at the 7th Asia-Pacific Conference on Library & Information Education and Practice (A-LIEP), which will be held on November 3-4 in Nanjing, China. In the talk, “Data Science and the Information Professional,” he will discuss the ethical and social obligations of information professionals from the perspective of data science.

Cass Mabbott, PhD student, will participate in Information Seeking in Context (ISIC): The Information Behaviour Conference to be held September 20-23 in Zadar, Croatia. This biannual conference is devoted to information-seeking behavior and information use, focusing this year on analytical investigations of the connection between information research and information behavior and practices.

Mak, Strickland address unconventional practices in science and technology at 4S/EASST conference

Associate Professor Bonnie Mak and doctoral student Beth Strickland will travel to Barcelona, Spain, at the end of the month to speak at the joint conference of the Society for Social Studies of Science and the European Association for the Study of Science and Technology (4S/EASST). The event, “Science and Technology by Other Means,” will be held at the Barcelona Internacional Convention Centre on August 31 - September 3.
