Two iSchool master's students undertook placements at Oxford University this summer and presented their work at a seminar earlier this month. The placements were part of the Oxford-Illinois Digital Library Placement Program, an ongoing collaboration between Illinois and Oxford. Catherine Blauvelt (MS '16) and Alex Kinnaman spent six weeks at the Oxford e-Research Centre and Bodleian Libraries, respectively.
Tina Hubert (MS '88), director of the Six Mile Regional Library District located in Granite City, Illinois, is the 2016 recipient of the Illinois Library Association Librarian of the Year Award. The award recognizes a librarian's distinguished service and leadership in Illinois libraries. The award is sponsored by Sikich.

Associate Professor Carol Tilley will speak this Saturday, August 13, at the Comics & Fandom Fest in Urbana, hosted by The Urbana Free Library (TUFL) and other local sponsors. Ann Ohms (MS '08) joined the School on August 1 as K-12 program coordinator. In this role, she advises students interested in pursuing licensure or endorsement as a K-12 library information specialist and supervises teacher-librarian candidates during their student teaching.

Stephen Downie will present their paper, "WiMIR: An Informetric Study On Women Authors In ISMIR," at the 17th International Society for Music Information Retrieval (ISMIR) Conference. Coauthors of the paper include Xiao Hu (PhD '10), Jin Ha Lee (PhD '08), Audrey Laplante, and Sally Jo Cunningham.
