iSchool partners with BIT on data-driven scholarship workshop

The iSchool is co-organizing a workshop on digital scholarship with Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) Library on June 14-16 in Beijing. The workshop, Digital Scholarship Centers: Building Library Services for Data-Driven Scholarship, will instruct participants in library service models for digital scholarship and discuss concepts in digital humanities and computational social science.

Tilley gives keynote addresses on comics

Carol Tilley will be a keynote speaker for the NASIG 32nd Annual Conference, which will be held June 8-11 in Indianapolis. An independent association of librarians and academic publishing professionals, NASIG promotes communication, information, and continuing education about scholarly communications, serials, and electronic resources. 

Diesner and Underwood to present research at Cultural Analytics 2017

Assistant Professor Jana Diesner and Professor Ted Underwood will present at Cultural Analytics 2017, a symposium devoted to new research in the fields of computational and data-intensive cultural studies, which will be held at the University of Notre Dame on May 26-27.

Darch and Dubin present at RDA meeting

Assistant Professor Peter Darch and Research Associate Professor David Dubin participated in the Research Data Alliance (RDA) 9th Plenary Meeting, which was held April 5-7 in Barcelona, Spain. 

iSchool represented at conference on information and power in history

The iSchool was well represented at the international conference, "Information and Power in History," which was held at the VU University Amsterdam on March 16-17. Organized by the Huygens Institute for the History of the Netherlands, in collaboration with Radboud University and Utrecht University, the conference attracted scholars from a wide variety of historical and other disciplines.

Diesner to present research at the Open Science 2017 Conference

Assistant Professor Jana Diesner will discuss current issues with open science that involve human-centered and online data and her related research at the Open Science Conference 2017, which will be held March 21-22 in Berlin. The Open Science 2017 Conference is the fourth international conference of the Leibniz Research Alliance Science 2.0.

Black and Witt present at Penn Libraries symposium

Professor Alistair Black and doctoral student Steven Witt discussed their research at the Penn Libraries symposium, The Science of Information, 1870-1945: The Universalization of Knowledge in a Utopian Age, which was held February 23-25 at the University of Pennsylvania and the Beckman Center at the Chemical Heritage Foundation in Philadelphia.
